Evansville and Indiana law enforcement agencies conducted a sobriety checkpoint overnight on Sunday in the Evansville area.
That checkpoint took place on St. Joseph Avenue at Indiana Street between 10:30 Saturday night and 2:30 Sunday morning.
Indiana State Police say that during the four hour period, authorities checked 22 drivers that passed through the checkpoint and arrested one impaired driver.
State police say 45-year-old James E. Moore was arrested for driving while intoxicated and he has a BAC of .13%.
Troopers say authorities also issued one
traffic ticket, five traffic warnings and arrested two Evansville men
for outstanding failure to appear warrants.
21-year-old Malcolm Payton and 22-year-old Clifford Middleton, troopers say, were arrested for failure to appear warrants.
State police, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office, and the Evansville Police Department participated in the checkpoint. They say sobriety checkpoints will continue throughout he month of August in order to keep the roads safe.
