Petersburg woman needs your help getting her item on Walmart shelves

PETERSBURG, IN (WFIE) -

For the second straight year, a retail giant is running a contest that gives American-based, small businesses a shot at putting products on Walmart shelves.

A Petersburg woman entered her idea in Walmart's "Get on the Shelf" competition.

Her invention is a kangaroo tablet pouch and she markets it as a way to hold your iPad or cell phone.

You strap the pouch over your shoulders and around your back.

The bag holds all your items right in front of you like a kangaroo pouch.

"I designed this back in January when we went on vacation to Hawaii and I needed something for my iPad," said Carol Franklin. "I wanted something that I wouldn't have to take it off, so I designed it in 30 minutes. "People were trying to purchase the one that I made by hand. The goal is to be recognized by Walmart, even if we don't win. We're a small family-owned company. We want to grow."

Franklin's idea has made it to the second round of the contest and the only way to advance to the next round is to get the most votes.
