A local doctor is facing felony drug charges.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at 60-year-old Dr. James Michael Conkright's home in the 2000 block of Oldbury Way in northern Vanderburgh County.

Deputies say they discovered a sophisticated marijuana grow operation in the basement of his house. They say a number of marijuana plants were seized by investigators.

A quantity of firearms and ammunition were also found in the residence and were seized by ATF agents.

Dr. Conkright was arrested and taken to the Vandeburgh County Detention Center and charged with cultivation of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia. He was soon able to bond out.
