Meeting to be held about deadly Gibson Co. rail crossing

Posted: Updated:
GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE) -

The railroad crossing that was the scene of a fatal accident just a couple weeks ago will be on the agenda of a Gibson County Commissioners meeting Tuesday night.

That crossing is on County Road 550 South, just north of Fort Branch.

It was the site of a fatal accident where a four year old girl died when a train hit the car she was in, but Sgt. Vanoven, with the Gibson County Sheriff's Office tells us, in fact, there have been three fatal accidents at this intersection in just the past two years.

He tells 14 News from a public safety standpoint he thinks the crossing is dangerous the way it is.

That's why Tuesday, Gibson County Commissioners will be talking about it. Discussing what can be done.

That meeting will take place at the Courthouse Annex, in Princeton, on Hart Street at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

We'll keep you posted.
