Tri-State town welcomes home their hero

GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE) -

A Tri-State soldier had quite an emotional homecoming on Friday.

Friends and family of Sergeant First Class Robert Beadles gathered in Ft. Branch for a surprise welcome home celebration.

Beadles was escorted to the South Gibson VFW by a fire truck down streets lined with US flags, tears and hugs soon followed.

An Iraqi War veteran, Beadles served in the Army and National Guard for a total of 11 years and says he's grateful for all the support he's received.

"They've always supported me my whole career, my brother is ex-army, too. So, we've got a good supportive family, military supporting family. It's good to be home, home for good, so, I was happy," Beadles said.

All this was organized by Robert's sister, Jaime, who was part of the escort party to the surprise celebration.
