Jasper woman found in pond

JASPER, IN (WFIE) - Indiana Conservation Officers are reporting an investigation of a Jasper woman's death Thursday afternoon near Celestine.

Reports show that family members located the body of 63-year-old Mary Schneider in a pond off of CR-425 E near Celestine.

Family members had been unable to make contact Schneider since early that morning and began a search to find her, including contacting local authorities as to her where a bouts.

Celestine First Responders, Dubois County EMS, Dubois County Sheriffs Deputies responded to the scene at around 2:50 p.m..

The Dubois County Coroner's Office was then notified and responded to the scene as well.

Indiana Conservation Officers, who are responsible for the reporting of all water related deaths, were also notified.

Indiana Conservation Officers are will be conducting a follow up investigation into the incident.

The Dubois County Coroner says the cause of death was drowning.

No foul play is suspected at this time.
