North HS student diagnosed with rare bone disease

An Evansville North High School Junior has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare bone disease.

Randi Idleman will undergo chemotherapy in Indianapolis over the next year.

Her family, along with Evansville's Dream Center, is planning a number of fundraiser's to help offset medical costs.

Director Todd Morgan says Randi's been attending the Dream Center and volunteering there since elementary school.

He says there's no one more deserving of some help.

"She's given to this community as a young lady, that's been her mentality is to help, to serve others, to be apart of many projects we've done," said Morgan. "Now she's on the opposite end, and instead of being one who can help provide services, now she's in a position where she needs to receive so we want to make sure that we're there for her."

The first Rally for Randi is on Saturday at IGA on First Avenue in Evansville.

There will be a yard sale beginning at 6 in the morning.
