Women attacked on UK's campus

LEXINGTON, KY (WAVE) - Two women are recovering after being brutally beaten with a fire extinguisher on the University of Kentucky campus.

Police are calling it a random act of violence. It happened Thursday morning at the Thomas Poe Cooper Building in the Forestry Department.

Police said Chase Jackson, 23, walked inside, used the phone and then turned violent.

"He was going down the hallway, he confronted a custodial staff person who he began to assault with the fire extinguisher," said Chief Joe Monroe of UK Police.

When another faculty member ran to an office and called 911, police said Jackson attacked her too.

Police confirmed Jackson has no connection to campus and isn't a student or an employee.
