Probation revoked; scammer gets four years in jail

A woman accused of scamming people in Vanderbrugh and Warrick counties is sentenced to time in prison after authorities say she violated her probation.

Authorities say Katherine Conapinski Jackson pled guilty in 2012 to four counts of Theft and one count of Check Fraud, all Class D Felonies.

Jackson was charged after authorities say she collected thousands of dollars on behalf of a family whose child was diagnosed with cancer and not using the money as represented to the donors. They say Jackson also pretended to be a family spokesman, giving false medical updates on the child's condition, even though Jackson had never spoken to the family.

Officials say Jackson was sentenced to five years at the Indiana Department of Correction all suspended to probation, but officials say Jackson violated her probation earlier this year.

The Warrick County Prosecutor's Office says Jackson was sentenced to four years in prison for the violation.
