Evansville man "lucky to be alive" after hunting accident

POSEY CO., IN (WFIE) -

An Evansville man is lucky to be alive after a hunting accident.

Dispatchers say it happened just before 8 a.m. Thursday morning.

Authorities say 64-year-old Michael Edwards, of Evansville, and a friend were squirrel hunting in the Big Cypress area near Hovey Lake.

Officials say Edwards's friend shot at a squirrel with a .22 caliber rifle when the bullet ricocheted, grazing Edwards in the back of the head.

Edwards was not seriously hurt and didn't need to go to the hospital.
