Coal train derails in Hardin Co.; cleanup expected to last through Friday

RADCLIFF, KY (WAVE) - Emergency crews were on the scene of an overnight train derailment in Hardin County near the border of Radcliff and Vine Grove.

Hardin County Emergency Management Director Doug Finley said 15 coal cars derailed just after 2 a.m. Thursday. Ten of the cars jackknifed; the other five overturned. Finley said no hazardous materials were aboard the train. No injuries were reported.

The Paducah & Louisville train consisted of 88 cars.

The accident happened near the Red Hill Road interchange. Crews did not expect to have the scene cleared until Friday night.
