Facebook helping fight crime in Daviess Co.

Posted: Updated:

The Daviess County Sheriff's Office says Facebook has helped in the investigation of two recent burglaries.

Deputies say the same person broke in and took cash from Daviess County Farm Services and the Owensboro Gym and Fitness last Thursday night.

Deputies posted surveillance of the suspect and the suspects car on Facebook, and after a few hours and 11,000 online views, deputies say tips led them to a car they believe was used in the burglaries.

"Detectives noticed other characteristics of the vehicle which compared to surveillance video further indicated it was the vehicle," said Sgt. Kent Taul.

The sheriff's office says they have a person of interest and are holding on the vehicle until they get a search warrant to look inside.
