Crosses standing on private property along Highway 41

The crosses at the center of a federal lawsuit are now standing on private property.

Organizers spent Wednesday morning putting the 30 crosses in front the old Whirlpool Building on Highway 41.

They were originally supposed to go up on Riverside Drive downtown, but two Evansville residents took the matter to court.

A judge recently ruled the crosses can't be displayed on public property. They'll be displayed at Whirlpool for about a week and will then be moved to a different location.
