Texas Rangers investigating officer-involved shooting

The Texas Rangers are now investigating an officer-involved shooting at an East Texas apartment complex.

Kristie Brian with the Longview Police Department confirms the shooting happened at 8:50 p.m. Monday, at the Penwood Apartments on Scene Drive in Longview.

Brian said an armed, unidentified man confronted police officers at the Golfcrest gate of the complex. Details about the confrontation are unknown at this time, but police tell us the man was shot by officers. He was transported to Longview regional Medical Center. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.

The Texas Rangers are taking over the investigation. Kristie Brian tells us the officer involved will be placed on administrative leave with pay.

This is the third officer-involved shooting of the year.
