The passenger of a motorcycle involved in a Tuesday night accident has died and the driver has been taken  to jail.

59-year-old Nancy Parsons, of Jasper, died in the hospital on Wednesday morning from the injuries she suffered in the Tuesday night accident that happened on Diamond Avenue and Mesker Park Drive.

Officials say Parsons was riding on a motorcycle driven by 49-year-old William Christopher Williams, of New Harmony, when the stoplight changed quickly. Authorities say Williams crashed into the back of a minivan and Parsons was ejected from the motorcycle. Deputies say she was wearing a helmet.

Officials say an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

Authorities say Williams was taken to the hospital for minor injuries where he tested positive for amphetamines and THC.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office says Williams was arrested for various charges including operating a vehicle under the unfluence causing death and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

He's in the Vanderburgh County Jail.

The crash is still under investigation.
