Evansville - Indiana Governor Joe Kernan says he would support importation of prescription drugs from Canada if the federal government doesn't step into curb rising costs. Kernan made the pledge while outlining his "Action Indiana" plan that includes help for Indiana workers and businesses.
However, Kernan's focus was on rising drug costs for seniors. Kernan pledged to call a prescription drug summit in December, involving drug companies and other pharmaceutical officials. He says if no common ground could be reached in that summit to relieve the burden domestically, Canada could be a final option.
Earlier in the campaign, Daniels had expressed concerns over the safety of drugs imported from other countries.
