Evonne Harl says she rides the city bus in Owensboro so often that she knows every driver. Harl says she often takes the bus to go shopping at Wal-Mart on Highway 54. "Taking the bus out there on 54 I think it's the longest ride there is. I just look at the scenery when I go by. That's how I pass the time," said Harl.
Harl's hour long bus route will be getting a lot shorter next month. The Owensboro Transit System will reconfigure all routes to be a thirty minute round trip and will add service to the new hospital. The transit system says it is covering as much territory as it can. "You want to make the services as covenant as possible for those who have to use it and those who want to use it. Shorter travel time means less wait," said Alison Townsend, Transportation Planner with Corradino.
The Owensboro Transit System says it has added a new transfer point at the park facility and have improved the yellow route. The reconfigured routes will start on September, 3, 2013.
