Hopkins County residents pleased about new street signs

HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE) - New street signs are beginning to be placed around Hopkins County to help emergency responders.

Over 130 roads in the county are private and have multiple homes on them.

Several streets also have the same name which can be confusing for first responders.

Most residents of the recently renamed Storm Lane in Earlington are pleased with the change.

"If we need the fire department real quick, if we were having a robbery and needed the police, nobody could find us back here," says Rhoda Poole. "That's why we pushed so hard to get the name changed so that way responders could get to us right away."

County officials say the $2,100 project should take about two years to complete.
