Pysch exam granted in Jason Perry murder case

GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE) -

New from Gibson County, all scheduled hearings in the Jason Perry murder case have been canceled, until Perry undergoes a psychiatric exam.

The court granted the exam to see if Perry is competent to stand trial for the murder of Jessica Tice.

A pretrial hearing had been set for August 12, after a new judge was appointed to the case.

Judge Mead recused himself because he was a deputy prosecutor in a 2005 battery case against Perry.

The prosecutor is still deciding whether he'll seek life in prison or the death penalty.
