Amazon announced that the company plans to hire thousands of new workers at its distribution centers around the country.
The company announced it's going to hire 5,000 more workers, bringing its workforce to about 25,000. The jobs will be going to 17 of its fulfillment centers around the country, including the Murfreesboro facility.
These jobs are going to be full-time positions and will probably pay about 30 percent more than traditional retail jobs. The new employees will have benefits, including healthcare, from day one.
The main reason for the new positions is Amazon is trying to position itself to be able to ship orders faster and cheaper.
The announcement comes the day before President Barack Obama visits Amazon's Chattanooga facility talking about growing private sector jobs and the economy.
It is not know how many new employees will be hired at the Murfreesboro facility.
