SUV flips, three taken to hospital with injuries

The intersection of Diamond Avenue and Big Cynthiana Road is open again after a three car accident Tuesday night.

Sheriff's officials say a white SUV was headed east on Diamond and tried to turn north onto Highway 65, Big Cynthiana Road, and hit a westbound car. The impact caused the SUV to flip multiple times and strike a third vehicle.

A person in the white SUV was trapped for about 30 minutes.

Officials say three people went to the hospital on stretchers. Authorities say, as bad as it looked, nobody was seriously hurt.

"Some pretty descent injuries, but from our observation, nothing life threatening. It could have been a lot worse when you look at the white SUV that was flipped over several times," said Sgt. Brian Traylor with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say the investigation is still open. No word yet whether anyone will be cited.
