Hearing set for claims against Vectren

Posted: Updated:
INDIANA (WFIE) -

The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission has set a hearing for Thursday over allegations Vectren delayed renewable energy projects in the state.

Brad Morton, with Morton Solar, filed the complaint with the IURC April 18. Morton claims Vectren has demonstrated "malicious intent to harm his company and customers by delaying projects."

Morton says some interconnection agreements needed for customers to sell-back their energy credits were never issued.

Vectren denies the claims.

"The bottom line is we are not intentionally stalling. We are not blocking this. We have consistently added customers year after year. It's an Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission requirement. We are going to comply," said Chase Kelley with Vectren.

"We want to work with Vectren and we want them to be supportive of customers that choose to generate their own power," Morton said.

The hearing is set for 10:30 Thursday morning.
