Wesselman Nature Society (WNS) and Tri-State Herpetological Society are teaming up to present a unique experience to showcase the lighter side of reptiles this weekend.

The Wesselman Nature Center will host "Reptile Roundup" on Saturday, July 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event, recommended for children ages 4 and up, is free for WNS members and $2 for non-members.

Those who attend will have the chance to get up close and personal with reptiles not only from Indiana, but from across the world.

You can see a giant tortoise, get your picture with a snake, and learn how to avoid bad pet choices.

The executive director of the Wesselman Nature Society, John Scott Foster, says he thinks the program is a great opportunity to conquer a fear of reptiles by learning more about them. "Reptiles are one of the most under appreciated and coolest animals around," Scott Foster says.
