Dog whose tongue was cut from its mouth gets good news

Posted: Updated:

An encouraging check up on Wednesday for a dog in Henderson whose tongue was cut from its mouth.

It's been a few weeks now since Buddy lost his tongue. Buddy saw the vet Wednesday and seems to be healing very well.

He went in for a check up and the results are providing some relief for his family, the Bryan's.

They tell 14 News that the vet was pleased with Buddy's progress and told them his tongue was now 90 percent healed.

Buddy will have to eat soft food from now on, but the Bryan's say the vet expects Buddy to make a complete recovery.

That's good news because going into this appointment, Loria Bryan says she wasn't sure what Buddy's future looked like.

"No one really knew what the outcome was going to be with Buddy. I knew what today was going to be, It was going to be the decision what would be best for Buddy and what would be more humane for Buddy. I was worried," Loria said.

"I was happy that he said that 90 percent of his tongue is healed and 10 percent is a little bit raw, but it's still fixed so I'm so happy," Kendra Bryan said.

The Bryan's want to remind people there is a reward being offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for hurting Buddy.

If you have any information about who may have done this, contact Henderson County Animal Control at (270) 826-8966 or the Bryan family at (270) 724-0477.
