Authorities have identified the 3-year-old victim in Mondays's drowning at Patoka Lake as Jayce Stallings, of Deputy, Indiana.
The incident occurred near the Little Patoka Boat Ramp around 3:00 p.m. Jayce had been swimming from a boat just prior to the incident.
Several boats were anchored together offshore along with the boat he had been swimming from. Those at the scene told authorities that Jayce was wearing a life jacket while swimming, but it was removed after he exited due to being cold and wanting to warm up.
After one of the boats left the group, it was noticed that Jayce was missing and a search began. He was last seen sitting along the edge of the boat on a cooler just prior going missing.
Authorities say Jayce was located a little after 4:00 p.m. by conservation officer divers and was transported to Harrison County Hospital, where he was treated and later pronounced dead.
