Red Cross sees low donation numbers in June

A plea from the American Red Cross as they put out an emergency call for blood and platelet donations.

The Red Cross says nationwide, blood donations were down about 10% in June. That means about 50,000 fewer donations came in than were expected.

The Red Cross dealt with this problem last June as well.

"Summertime is a really tough time for blood donations," says Julie Krizen with the American Red Cross. "

In Evansville, the American Red Cross Blood Donation Center is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and the first and third Saturday of the month.
