Former EVSC Administration Building to be renovated

Posted: Updated:

A few days ago, the EVSC sold its former Administration Building located at 1 SE 9th Street in the courtyard of the Civic Center.

Now the man who bought it has big plans to renovate it.

Scott Danks tells 14 News that there are a lot of changes coming to the building, and soon.

For starters, part of the building will become a restaurant fittingly called Barristers, which is the English word for lawyer.

He and the business partners he's bought the space with also have plans to turn an entire corner of the building into a wrap around glass atrium.

Inside the 75,000 square foot space, businesses will move in. For Danks, this is very much a labor of love.

"I love this entire complex," says Danks. "I started interning at the court system at the age of 18 and I've been working in these buildings since that time. I think they're beautiful buildings, they're well preserved and I have a passion for them."

Danks tells 14 News that he plans to start construction as soon as the permits get approves, which he hopes will be as soon as 45 days.
