Kentucky looks for input on new state plan

The Kentucky Department for Public Health is seeking input from Kentuckians for the state health improvement plan.

The state's residents can offer their thoughts about improving Kentucky's overall health status by filling out an online survey by Aug. 1. It can be found by clicking here.

The state public health department recently drafted the state health assessment. It examines the state's health and identifies key problems and assets. The department says the goal is to provide data to guide decision making for a state health improvement plan.

Kentucky ranks 44th nationally in major health status categories, according to the America's Health Rankings Profile for 2012. The Bluegrass state has high rates for smoking, cancer deaths and obesity.
