Hundreds gathered for fireworks in Mt. Vernon

POSEY CO., IN (WFIE) -

Hundreds filled the Mt. Vernon riverfront Tuesday night for fireworks.

The annual fireworks show, presented by the Lions Club, is usually held on the eve of Independence Day, but due to a mix up in schedules, the show had to be pushed back.

Most of the crowd didn't seem to mind the six day delay, although many said they wished the show would've lasted just a little longer.

"It didn't last but about ten or fifteen minutes. It wasn't bad though. They had pretty good fireworks. But it wasn't anything like last year, that's for sure," resident Casey Winegar said.

The annual fire works show in Mt. Vernon has been put on for the past 20 years.
