Witnesses take the stand in trial of Madisonville man charged with sexual abuse

HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE) -

It's day two of the trial of a man charged with first degree sexual abuse in Hopkins County.

A jury of eight men and four women are hearing the case again 52-year-old Cecil Salyers. The prosecution is presenting its case.

On Tuesday, the Commonwealth Attorney's Office called their witnesses and victims to the stand which brought teary-eyed recollections of the events leading up to the trial.

Family members of those testifying agonizingly sat and listened in the courtroom as their friends and daughters described vividly what they say happened three years ago.

One common theme resonated through all the testimonies, "It made me feel uncomfortable." One victim even went so far as to say, "I was scared, so I did everything he said to not be hurt again."

A Madisonville police detective also testified to the consistency displayed through each victims testimony of a slumber party at Salyers home in 2010.

On Wednesday, the jury will finish hearing the testimony of Madisonville police detectives as well as any witnesses the defense wishes to call.
