The American Red Cross of Southern Indiana is offering free Holiday World & Splashin' Safari tickets to donors during the Celebrate Freedom Blood Drive.
The two-day blood drive will be held on July 15 and 22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the American Red Cross building located at 29 S. Stockwell Road.
Of course, a free meal will also be provided.
The drive is being held to prevent the decrease in blood donations that commonly occurs during the summer months due to vacations and other summer activities, according to American Red Cross Regional CEO Amy Canterbury.
"On average, during the summer two fewer donors give blood at each Red Cross blood drive than what patients need," Canterbury says. "We need the community's help to ensure blood is readily available when a patient needs it the most."
Donors of all blood types are encouraged to schedule an appointment, especially O negative, A negative and B negative.
Appointments must be scheduled prior to July 15 and July 22 to take part in these special blood drives.
Individuals who are 17 years old or older (16 with parental permission in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to give blood.
A blood donor card or driver's license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.
Eligible donors can set up a day and time by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or by visiting redcrossblood.org.
