JDRF sending Evansville student to D.C. to help fund diabetes research

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is sending it's Children's Congress to Washington D.C. next week, and that includes Evansville delegate, 17-year-old, Claire Dunigan.

Claire has type-one diabetes and will be a senior at Evansville Day School next school year. She was chosen as one of 150 kids across the country to represent their home state when the foundation asks Congress for continued funding of diabetes research.

Claire hopes she can help make a difference.

"I want to talk to Congress about continuing funding for it, because one day I hope to be like everyone else, just like a normal kid, and not having to worry about my blood sugar 24/7, and insulin and everything like that," says Claire.

The Children's Congress will visit Washington D.C. from July 8 to July 10.
