MADISONVILLE, KY (WFIE) -

Events are just getting underway for Madisonville's 4th Fest celebration.

The threat of rain wasn't going to keep Madisonville from celebrating July 4th. Instead, organizers have moved the events into the Downtown Ballard Convention Center.

The doors opened just a few minutes after 6:00 with the musical entertainment of Conch Republic Band. Other activities include food vendors, the final round of First United Bank's "Let Freedom Sing" competition, and a beer garden.

The great thing about this event? It's completely free.

"We're so glad we made the decision to come on out here and get Conch Republic out so that our community could come on out and enjoy the 4th Fest activities," says Karen Glenn. "First United Bank is so proud to host this evening. We're glad everything is going on."

Some areas of the Tri-State have canceled firework shows, but Madisonville is still having their show at 9:30 in the city park.
