Tri-State Food Bank grateful for big donation

Posted: Updated:

The Tri-State Food Bank has two new sets of wheels.

Both of their delivery vans broke down in the past week, so Bennett Motors and Audubon Chrysler stepped in to help, donating two 2012 Dodge Grand Caravans.

If the food bank would have had to buy them out of their own pocket it would have cost about $35,000, so the donation was a huge help.

"We were just so happy that we have a supportive community and that Bennett Motors and Audubon Chrysler gifted this to us, because it just makes all the difference," said Mary Blair, the Executive Director of the Tri-State Food Bank. "It's a great donation and if we'd have had to spend money that we'd have to spend on food, on a vehicle, that would just be less food for people in need."

Tri-State Food Bank serves 33 counties in the Tri-State. They say reliable transportation is key to distributing food to those who need it.
