Convention Center staff making another announcement this weekend

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

This weekend, you're invited to downtown Owensboro to learn about another event coming to the Convention Center.

Saturday's announcement is taking place at 11 a.m. at the Lazy Dayz playground in Smothers Park.

We don't know too much just yet, but officials say the announcement's about a fun and unique event that's scheduled for 2014 and 2015 at the Convention Center.

They predict that the four-day event will bring more than a thousand people from around the region into Owensboro.

So far, Global Spectrum has announced two events that are coming to the Convention Center.

The Outdoor Owensboro Hunting and Fishing Expo is scheduled for this winter.

Last month, we learned that the Owensboro Boat and Recreation show will take place during the last weekend in February.

It's expected to attract boating enthusiasts from around the region.

As of right now, the Convention Center is still scheduled to open in January around the same time as its hotel neighbor.

If you'd like to stop by, tomorrow's announcement will be held on the north side of the playground, which is the closest to the river.
