Evansville business accused of illegally dumping substances into Newburgh sewer system

NEWBURGH, IN (WFIE) - The Newburgh Town Council says an Evansville water softener business violated the town's sewer ordinances.

According to the "notice of violation" filed Wednesday night- Culligan of Evansville illegally discharged copper, nickel and zinc into Newburgh's sanitary sewer system.

The notice also claims this is not the first time Culligan has been accused of doing this.

The town council voted Wednesday to allow an attorney to pursue the maximum penalties against Culligan.
