Teen high on drugs attempted to enter stranger's home

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A teenager, confused by his admitted use of marijuana, attempted to enter a home in southwest Louisville when the homeowner called the police on him.

It happened near Dixie Highway and Pendleton Road in southwest Louisville around 6 a.m. Tuesday. Shawn Scott, 18, was observed trying door knobs to get inside a house in the 13000 block of Bohannon Avenue. A woman living there was home at the time and called police after he tried to enter through several doors.

When police arrived, Scott fled on foot through neighboring yards and then into a field. Officers caught up to him, at which time he admitted to being under the influence of marijuana. According to police, he did not have any shoes on and was confused about where he was and the time of day. The arresting officer reported he had bloodshot eyes and dry mouth. Officers asked him what he had done the night before, to which he responded that he and a friend were conducting ancient Indian rituals—including smoking a peace pipe.

Scott told police he did not recall how he ended up in that neighborhood or where his truck was parked. Officers later found the vehicle in the 6000 block of Pendleton Road, across Dixie Highway and about a mile from where they discovered the teen. The truck had been driven through someone's front yard and parked next to a barn. Scott told police he did not know why he did that, but that he likes to hide his truck so it is not stolen.

He was arrested and charged with evading police, public intoxication and criminal trespassing.
