Drums on the Ohio march back to Evansville, but will the weather stop the show?

Posted: Updated:

After a five year hiatus, Drums on the Ohio, a drum and bugle corps competition, is back in Evansville.

However, with rain in the forecast, is there a chance the show will get rained out?

Organizer Beth Daily tells us the Drum Corp. International allows for up to 2 hours delay. That means if the storms threaten to last longer than that, the whole program will be canceled, not rescheduled.

That decision will be made later on Wednesday.

Six corps will be at tonight's show. They include:Colts (Dubuque, IA), Troopers (Casper, WY), Blue Stars (La Crosse, WI), Crossmen (San Antonio, TX), Spirit of Atlanta (Atlanta, GA) and Madison Scouts (Madison, WI).

However, you can also watch the corps practice during the day at six Evansville high schools: Reitz High School, North High School, Harrison High School, AIS, Diamond Campus, Bosse High School and Central High School.

It costs nothing to watch the practice sessions.

The best time to check those out is from 11a.m. until about 1p.m.

Tickets

You can still buy tickets, but they are no longer available online.

Tickets start at $15. You can buy them in person at Reitz High School (350 Dreier Boulevard Evansville, IN 47712) starting at 3 p.m.

The show will start at 7 p.m. Wednesday night at the Reitz Bowl.

Parking

There are 3 parking options available.

The main Reitz school parking lot is only open via Austin Ave and Dreier Blvd. There will be a minimal $5 charge for this close-in parking. This is the closest lot and will fill up quickly.

There will be free parking and shuttle service from the former Mead Johnson Parking Lot, located at the northwest corner of St. Joe Avenue and the Lloyd Expressway.

Shuttles will begin at 5:30 p.m. and continue until 7:30 p.m. They will run approximately every 15 minutes.

There is free ample on-street parking in the neighborhood surrounding Reitz HS, but there will be no spectator parking allowed in the lots and streets immediately behind Reitz Bowl.
