Owensboro residents invited to tour a revitalized neighborhood

Owensboro officials are holding an open house in the Mechanicsville Neighborhood, and you're more than welcome to attend.

It's happening on Cravens Avenue and will run from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

The event's taking place at two homes: 2400 Cravens Avenue and 2402 Cravens Avenue.

The Mechanicsville Neighborhood's gone through many changes over the past few years.

City officials have invested millions of dollars to improve individual properties and even build new homes.

Back in October, the Omega Street Extension officially opened to traffic.

That part of the Mechanicsville redevelopment plan has several goals, including increasing emergency response times, building new homes, and creating an attractive entrance to the neighborhood.

City officials cited some of the improvements in the Mechanicsville Neighborhood when they were in the running for the All-America City Award earlier this month.

The entire project is scheduled to wrap up next year, but you can get a look at the progress today.
