Man dies after trailer fire in Herrin

A Herrin man died early Tuesday after he was found in a trailer fire Monday.

The Herrin Fire Department responded to a fire at 9:21 a.m. at at trailer fire at 1707 W. Adams Street and found fire in the front portion of the trailer.

They found Neal Jeralds in the backroom of the trailer.

He was taken to Herrin Hospital. Herrin fire fighters say Jeralds was then airlifted to a St. Louis hospital. Jerald's died at 1:54 a.m. Tuesday at Mercy Medical Center, according to the St. Louis County Coroner's Office.

Graveside services for 49 year old Neal Jeralds, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery prior to the service.

Police say the fire appears to be electrical and started near the hot water heater.

The Herrin Fire Department and the Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating.
