Hundreds gathered at the Vanderburgh County 4-H Fairgrounds on Saturday to participate in the Color Blaze 5K to benefit the Ronald McDonald House.

Runners and families from all over the area showed up wearing white clothing in anticipation of being dowsed with colored paint.

This was the first Color Blaze to ever happen in Vanderburgh County. Representatives of the Ronald McDonald House say the 5K is a non-competitive event focused on entertainment and helping the less fortunate.

They say Saturday's turnout went beyond their expectations.

"We're very appreciative of the people that's come out today and supported the cause and whatever. We're truly really, really grateful for them. I have to say it's exceeding our expectations," says Steve Schroer, a Ronald McDonald House volunteer.
