Flash flooding and power outages for O'boro Friday night

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

It was an evening of flash flooding and power outages Friday night in Owensboro.

OMU reported that 20,000 customers were without power around 6:30 p.m. after a lightning strike to the transmission system. By 9:00 p.m., all but 300 customers were still in  the dark.

Another concern was street flooding. Police say some roads were impassable for awhile, and the flash flooding even sent water into a popular Owensboro restaurant.

The water that was inside the dinning room at Moon Lite Bar-B-Que Friday night is gone now. The owner of the restaurant tells 14 News the heavy rain was too much for the drain on the patio next to the dinning room.

The owner says water started coming into the dinning room just after 7:00 Friday night. She says the water was an inch deep and came about 25 feet into the building.

Employees worked hard to clean up the restaurant. It's still open for business.
