Mt. Vernon's new riverfront home of arts fest this weekend

We're going to have some great weather this weekend, and officials are hoping it will bring you to a new event in Mt. Vernon.

Countless meetings and hundreds of community donations made the Mt. Vernon Riverfront possible. Now, the challenge is getting people to use this space.

It will be a buzz this weekend with the first-ever Riverfront Arts Fest.

More than a dozen local vendors will be on hand, with homemade goods like pottery, jewelry and paintings. People can also check out live art demonstrations every 30 minutes that's put on by the Parks and Recreation Department, who think the interest is there.

"Especially with Posey County as a whole, there's a lot of people who have creative minds and creative hands. I think there's a lot of people in this community who will really grab onto this," says Scott Royer.

The Mt. Vernon Riverfront Arts Fest is free and open to anyone who's interested on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M..
