Summer Arrives

The summer solstice occurred at 12:04 am cdt Friday morning.  The timing couldn't have been more perfect as hot weather moves in for the weekend and hangs around into next week.  Much like Thursday afternoon, we'll have a daily chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm, but only about a 10-15% chance.  Rain will be a slightly better bet as we head into the middle of next week.

Miami Heat Repeat

Series MVP LeBron James poured in 37 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in leading the Miami Heat past San Antonio 95-88 in the seventh game of the NBA Finals. It's back-to-back titles for the Heat, who also won the NBA championship in 2006. Highlights on Sunrise.

Swimming & Radios

To kick off the first official day of summer, a special safety event is taking place in just a few hours in Owensboro. You're also invited to join local amateur radio operators as they gather this weekend in Daviess County.  Alyssa is live with the details.

Bridge & Boats

Nicole will be hopping this morning as well. She begins at a special bridge club fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association, and then heads to the lake for a preview of this weekend's "Little Thunder" boat race to benefit a local charity.
