Lane restrictions on Highway 41 set to begin Thursday morning

Posted: Updated:

A new road project is scheduled to start Thursday morning along Highway 41 to install a new traffic light.

INDOT officials tell 14 News they plan to put up the barricades and start the project after morning rush hour.

The work is taking place at the intersection of Highway 41 and Rusher Creek Road. That's just about a mile south of I-64.

While crews install the light, Highway 41 will be down to one lane of traffic in each direction near the intersection.

Rusher Creek Road on the east side of U.S. 41 will be closed off as well.

If you need to access a business or home along the east side of the highway you can still do so by taking the Ruffian Way intersection.

An Evansville company will be in charge of installing the new traffic light.

Crews will also be building a left turn lane for southbound U.S. 41 and installing a pressure sensor at the intersection.

INDOT officials say the restrictions should be lifted around mid-August, weather permitting.
