Tropicana Evansville gives out its first check post rebranding

Tropicana Evansville handed out its first check under the new branding.

That check goes to the Boys and Girls Club of Evansville, and was raised through a monthly program where employees can pay $3 to wear jeans to work once a month.

Tropicana matches their contributions.

Employees raised $464, which gave the club a $928 check Wednesday.

Ward Shaw, General Manager at Tropicana says the idea came from an employee suggestion.

"Why not have some fun with it, do it every month, have a group of employees pick the twelve organizations that we will support each month. You know, everyone likes wearing jeans, changing it up a little bit for one day, having fun, and raising a little money for a good cause," says Shaw.

The Boys and Girls Club says the money will go toward funding summer programs, including a trip to Holiday World.
