The South Spencer Rebels took home the third State Title in school history, beating defending State Champion Northfield 3-2 in the 2-A State Title game at Indianapolis' Victory Field Saturday afternoon.
Chandler Roberts opened the scoring in the top of the second, knocking in Malin Webb, getting the Rebels on the board first.
However South Spencer starting pitcher Brandon Lehr uncorked a wild pitch in the bottom of the inning would bring home Andy Roser, knotting the game at one.
That's the way it would stay until the top of the fifth, when the Rebels' Ryan Duvall came up with a clutch bases loaded, two out single, putting South Spencer back in front 3-1. Northfield would threaten in the final frame, drawing within one, but Lehr and company get out of the jam to win 3-2.
