Detours around Oak Hill Rd. work begin Thursday

Posted: Updated:

Drivers who use part of Oak Hill Road will need to find another route beginning Thursday. A busy section of the road is closing and likely won't reopen for months.

Work around Oak Hill Road has been going on for a while now, near Morgan Avenue and Vogel Elementary. This closure is to the north and it will impact a lot of people.

The company doing the work says Oak Hill will close Thursday, June 13 from the Pigeon Creek Bridge to Lake Drive.

They say they'll need to keep it closed until about October 25. They'll be doing water line and storm sewer work in addition to road work.

This closure is for thru traffic, so people living in neighborhoods back here will have ways to get in and out.

Neighbors 14 News spoke with say they received advance notice about the closure, which they appreciated.

"It's a minor inconvenience, but they've given us plenty of notice and we can't complain. It will make things a lot better for us. Oak Hill has been a well-traveled road. It gets more so all the time, and I think widening the road is going to be helpful for everybody in the area," says Sue Schriber, who lives in the area.

Official detour markers should be installed Thursday. The detour route will use Morgan Avenue, 41, and Lynch Road.
