The casino in Downtown Evansville officially switched to its new branding overnight on Tuesday.
That means there will be a lot of things going on this weekend and through the rest of the month to celebrate.
Casino guests can register to win free prizes. They'll be given out several times an hour from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 5:00 Sunday night.
That's going on through the end of June. This weekend they'll have cake and some showgirls will be around.
General Manager Ward Shaw says they closed the casino for about five hours overnight last night to switch over things like chips, dice and playing cards to the new Tropicana Evansville name.
On Tuesday, crews were working on installing a large digital sign by the casino hotel.
"This is a huge deal for us. It's a huge deal for the property, and we'll really be celebrating that starting this weekend, going through the rest of June, " Shaw says. "But really sort of captures, I think, all of the $19 million in improvements we've been working on over the past few years, and really relaunching as Tropicana is a great way to sort of package that and celebrate that."
This Friday, Shaw says we should find out what new businesses are headed into The District. He says some new things are coming that will be unique not only to Evansville, but to the whole region.
Plus, he says, there will be some other improvements that are going to be made around the property as well.
