A moped rider was hurt after crashing into a truck Monday afternoon in Evansville.
Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Deputies say that a tan truck was driving west on Mohr Road when 37-year-old Gary Whittington, heading south on St. Joe, was ejected from his moped after crashing into the truck.
Deputies interviewed the driver of the truck who said she looked both way at the intersection and did not see any cross traffic, so she proceeded through the intersection
Several witnesses on the scene confirmed the driver's statement.
Whittington was lying conscious on the ground, and did not appear to have life threatening injuries. He was taken to Deaconess Hospital.
The other driver was not injured.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the accident. Deputies say that Whittington was not wearing a helmet, and it is unknown whether or not the person driving the truck was wearing a seat beat.
